Dad Socks it To Us at W Scottsdale Art Gallery!

Dad Socks, AKA Bill Taggart, will be featured at our upcoming W Scottsdale event on April 5th. The Arizona based stencil artist is influenced by hip hop culture and social issues. As an artists he aims to stimulate the minds of viewers and provoke deep thoughts. His method includes layering different shades of paint onto hand or laser cut stencils. His process can take anywhere between 15 to 60 hours. He has done a number of projects, including stencil portraits of some of his favorite artists in the hip hop world. Chic Designs by Mabel Cortez

Founder Mabel Cortez started Mabella Chic designs for the trendy woman. Mabella focuses on comfortable yet trendy, brightly colored designs. She hopes to fulfill the needs of women who express themselves through fashion and, more specifically, through Mabella Chic designs. Along with being a featured designer at Project Ethos this Saturday, she has also been a guest on media platforms like Univision and Good Morning AZ. Bedelgeuse Art Installation at Project Ethos

Artist, Travis Bedel, who goes by Bedelgeuse, is a mixed media artist who blends his passion of art and music. Better known as a collage artist, Bedelgeuse combines anatomical images with images of flowers, birds, butterflies, and other living things to display the relationship between the body and nature. He states that most of his work “represents love loss, and letting go.” His technique includes scanning, resizing, printing, and cutting out images to glue together later. Aztec Smurf Returns to Project Ethos

Painter and muralist Aztec Smurf returns to W in Scottsdale with a live art installation on the WET Deck. At a very young age, he was fascinated with the art-filled walls in Mexico which sparked his creativity. He then attended Arizona State University for some time where he took a variety of art courses. Ultimately he decided painting was his passion and he wanted to do it right away. Today, one of the many murals he is known for is the largest mural in Tempe, the Gila Monster. To see more of his art follow him @AztecSmurf.

1 Spot Gallery: Contemporary Native American Art

A number of talented artists from 1Spot gallery will be showcasing the amazing work from contemporary indigenous artists from throughout the Southwest. It is the home of artists like Kathy Whitman Elkwoman, Jaque Frague, Melissa Melero, Patrick Dean Hubbell, and Damian Jim. Kathy Whitman is a woman of many talents including being a stone and metal sculptor, painter, jeweler, fashion and furniture designer. Jaque Fragua started out experimenting with graffiti and now travels with his paints and his creativity. He has also taken a part in the Honor the Treaties movement. Melissa Melero is a contemporary painter whose work portrays nature and culture in a distinct, abstract way. Patrick Dean Hubbell finds inspiration from everything around him to create his bold and vibrant acrylic works of art. Finally, Dine artist and graphic designer Damian Jim, creates a variety of black and white as well as brightly colored works of art that incorporate different forms of writing. We are so excited to see what this group of talented individuals will bring with them.

Annual fashion, music, and art hybrid event held on April 5th

Scottsdale, AZ (March 24th, 2014) - Project Ethos presented by Scion in association with Steve LeVine Entertainment and Public Relations (SLE) with media partner 104.7 KISS FM return on Saturday, April 5th to W Scottsdale’s WET deck featuring a night of fashion, music and art. The W Scottsdale is located at 7277 East Camelback Road, Scottsdale, AZ, doors open at 8:00 p.m. The event is 21 and over. The event will be hosted by KISS FM’s own, DJ Aaron Taylor.

Project Ethos showcases emerging fashion designers, musicians and artists in a unique hybrid atmosphere bringing together buyers, consumers and press. Past designers at Project Ethos include: Michael Costello, Kristen Dorsey Designs, AVA Collective, T. Rains and Boys and Arrows Swimwear. Past live musical performances include: Grammy Award Winners Bruno Mars and Colbie Caillat as well as Far East Movement, LMFAO, Kelley James and more.

This year’s event features an array of talents including local designers Tiffe Fermaint with her structured yet edgy women’s separates and colorful separates by Mabella Chic. Get Cheeki swimwear will be bringing fresh beach babes with colorful, reversible swimsuits and headlining the fashion festivities on the pool-topped runway will be Project Runway Season 11 alum and New York based designer, Layana Aguilar fresh off her LA Fashion Week show. Her sophisticated cocktail dresses and red carpet ready attire will top off the evening’s events. Official hair and make up team The Studio Academy of Beauty will be styling all of the glamorous looks as seen on the runway.

Purveyor of holistic fine accessories, Tanari Jewelry will be a featured vendor at the event in addition to the newly launched e-commerce site Shop Ethos showcasing a pop-up location featuring beauty, accessories and more from Original Grain, Get Cheeki swimwear, Foree Handbags and Fleishman’s Handmade.

The event will also host an outdoor art gallery spread throughout the venue including live and visual artists. Multi media artist Aztec Smurf, vibrant print artist bedelgeuse and stencil artist Dad Socks will be featured. Showcasing contemporary Native American Art will be a group abstract show by Phoenix based, 1Spot Gallery including Kathy Whitman Elkwoman, Jaque Fragua, Melissa Melero, Patrick Dean Hubbell and Damian Jim.

Get Cheeki

Designer Rosie Davenport was born and raised in California and has had her fair share of sun. From sunbathing in Cali to Ireland to Australia, she has designed swimwear that brings out the inner goddess in every girl. Cheeki Swimwear is made to be worn a different way everyday by combining a variety of colors and cuts in each design. Get Cheeki aims to “exhibit the individual sexiness inherent in every girl”. Tiffe Fermaint

The talented Tiffe Fermaint brings her edgy designs to the runway on April 4th for Project Ethos in Scottsdale, Arizona. The American designer studied fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. Today she resides in Arizona, where she focuses on creating “bold fashion with elements of futuristic glamour”. She’s been awarded the title of “Best Designer of 2013” by the Phoenix New Times. Aside from her own designs, she also works with a team at Baby Teith making “eco-friendly and socially conscious clothing for babies”. See more out of this world designs at Tiffe Fermaint.
