Scottsdale 4-5-14 Post Media Release

SCION, PROJECT ETHOS MIX LOCAL AND NATIONAL TALENT AT W SCOTTSDALE
Fashion, Live Art and Music Showcased to Arizona industry and hotel guests

Scottsdale, AZ (April 7th, 2014) - Project Ethos presented by Scion in association with Steve LeVine Entertainment and Public Relations (SLE) and Java Monster with media partner 104.7 KISS FM hosted 1,000+ attendees on Saturday, April 5th in a one-of-a-kind fashion, music and art event at W Scottsdale on the WET Deck. The event featured a line up of local and nationally recognized talent with some familiar faces such as NBA star Russell Westbrook.

The red carpet event featured a fire red Scion FR-S stationed outside of Sushi Roku along with swag for attendees upstairs from the auto brand. MC’d by KISS FM’s DJ Aaron Taylor, the evening started off in the Living Room with an industry Meet and Greet featuring tunes by Phoenix based ShouTheory.

The sparkling rooftop pool featured a fashion show line up of five women’s wear designers. California based Get Cheeki swimwear opened the show with reversible swimsuits and trademark sunglasses followed by Arizona local Tiffe Fermaint bringing futuristic separates with neon pops of color to the stage. Another local, Mabella Chic had flirty, bold pieces in blue, yellow and red for Spring / Summer with a chiffon finale gown. Phoenix based designer Amelia Walsh’s dresses followed with classic feminine silhouettes before New York based designer and Project Runway Season 11 alumna Layana Aguilarclosed the show with jumpsuits and red carpet ready gowns. Official hair and make up team The Studio Academy of Beauty styled all of the glamorous looks as seen on the runway.

Purveyor of holistic fine accessories, Tanari Jewelry featured museum style viewing cases for their accessories made of fine gemstones, diamonds and precious metals. Shop Ethos featured a pop-up shop for the night with giveaways along with beauty, men’s and women’s accessories and more from Original Grain, Get Cheeki swimwear, Forée Handbags and Fleishman’s Handmade.

Live and visual art installations from nine local artists spread throughout the venue including multi media artist Aztec Smurf, print artist bedelgeuse and stencil artist Dad Socks. A group abstract show featuring contemporary Native American Art was presented by Phoenix based 1Spot Gallery including pieces from Kathy Whitman Elkwoman, Jaque Fragua, Melissa Melero, Patrick Dean Hubbell and Damian Jim.

DJ sets continued until 2am, keeping the after party going under the Scottsdale stars.

Dad Socks it To Us at W Scottsdale Art Gallery!

Dad Socks, AKA Bill Taggart, will be featured at our upcoming W Scottsdale event on April 5th. The Arizona based stencil artist is influenced by hip hop culture and social issues. As an artists he aims to stimulate the minds of viewers and provoke deep thoughts. His method includes layering different shades of paint onto hand or laser cut stencils. His process can take anywhere between 15 to 60 hours. He has done a number of projects, including stencil portraits of some of his favorite artists in the hip hop world. Chic Designs by Mabel Cortez

Founder Mabel Cortez started Mabella Chic designs for the trendy woman. Mabella focuses on comfortable yet trendy, brightly colored designs. She hopes to fulfill the needs of women who express themselves through fashion and, more specifically, through Mabella Chic designs. Along with being a featured designer at Project Ethos this Saturday, she has also been a guest on media platforms like Univision and Good Morning AZ. Bedelgeuse Art Installation at Project Ethos

Artist, Travis Bedel, who goes by Bedelgeuse, is a mixed media artist who blends his passion of art and music. Better known as a collage artist, Bedelgeuse combines anatomical images with images of flowers, birds, butterflies, and other living things to display the relationship between the body and nature. He states that most of his work “represents love loss, and letting go.” His technique includes scanning, resizing, printing, and cutting out images to glue together later. Aztec Smurf Returns to Project Ethos

Painter and muralist Aztec Smurf returns to W in Scottsdale with a live art installation on the WET Deck. At a very young age, he was fascinated with the art-filled walls in Mexico which sparked his creativity. He then attended Arizona State University for some time where he took a variety of art courses. Ultimately he decided painting was his passion and he wanted to do it right away. Today, one of the many murals he is known for is the largest mural in Tempe, the Gila Monster. To see more of his art follow him @AztecSmurf.

1 Spot Gallery: Contemporary Native American Art

A number of talented artists from 1Spot gallery will be showcasing the amazing work from contemporary indigenous artists from throughout the Southwest. It is the home of artists like Kathy Whitman Elkwoman, Jaque Frague, Melissa Melero, Patrick Dean Hubbell, and Damian Jim. Kathy Whitman is a woman of many talents including being a stone and metal sculptor, painter, jeweler, fashion and furniture designer. Jaque Fragua started out experimenting with graffiti and now travels with his paints and his creativity. He has also taken a part in the Honor the Treaties movement. Melissa Melero is a contemporary painter whose work portrays nature and culture in a distinct, abstract way. Patrick Dean Hubbell finds inspiration from everything around him to create his bold and vibrant acrylic works of art. Finally, Dine artist and graphic designer Damian Jim, creates a variety of black and white as well as brightly colored works of art that incorporate different forms of writing. We are so excited to see what this group of talented individuals will bring with them.
