Art at LAFW 10-15-13

Project Ethos is proud to showcase some of LA’s most renowned emerging artists in addition to a select few from New York, Chicago, and areas overseas. This October 15th LA Fashion Week art exhibition will feature a variety of one-of-a-kind visual artists all throughout Avalon. Sponsored by Midori, Bardot will host an interactive, engaging, and diverse environment. Those featured this October include:

Miguel Big and Brittany Thurston who will open the runway show with a theatrical animation video sure to dazzle spectators. Renowned painter Leah Devora whose art has been featured on HBO’s hit series such as “Entourage,” as well as “E.R.,” “Without a Trace,” “West Wing,” and “Six Feet Under”, will showcase pieces featuring some of Hollywood’s most iconic faces. Self-taught artist, Micheal “Malafiura” Fontana dedicates his time to creating thought-provoking and often politically charged large-scale mixed medium installations. Having lived for four years with an illness that greatly affected her physical appearance Chelsea Knight became infatuated with how self-image affects a humans emotional state and chose to use photography to capture the dramatic results. A new transplant to Los Angeles, Eddy Lee creates works influenced by various elements of pop surrealism, high renaissance and Baroque era paintings and sculptures which he emulates on to wood.

Project Ethos will also host a series of interactive artists including Cutter Cuttshaw whose pieces are inspired by a mixture of original photography and digital or organic brushwork. Mathew Bilfield will premiere two never before seen pieces at the event, each taking about 100 hours to complete. As featured in Nylon Magazine, LA Weekly, and The Los Angeles Times, street art gallery Lab Art will awe the audience with a Midori inspired live art showcase created by Mar (aka This Means Mar), Annie Preece, and LeBa. Also at the event C.Harvey Smith will reveal a Midori inspired sculpture installation, a never before seen commercial collaboration.

Fly Panda

Fly Panda, the brainchild of producer Curtis Bold, is an eccentric trio consisting of rapper Luka$ Ka$h, singer Winter Rae and DJ Curtis Bold. They have invented their own incomparable sound appropriately called “ratchet pop,” as it combines rap, EDM and pop to create a fresh, over-the-top flavor.

The group made their debut last December with their “Call Me Crazy” teaser video, which samples Carly Jepsen’s overplayed hit “Call Me Maybe.” In just a week the video exceeded 50,000 views and amassed the support of bloggers and celebrities such as Perez Hilton, Far East Movement, Tyrese Gibson, Nicole Scherzinger, and Greyson Chance. “Call Me Crazy” not only introduced the group’s funky sound but also created the #STUNT movement, with the ultimate goal of inspiring people to believe in themselves and dream big.

In May the group dropped their much-anticipated first full length EP Pandamonium which included seven high-energy, hard-hitting tracks, like “Face Drop” and “I’m Awesummm,” surely to take over the party scene. Fly Panda will have their first official show at Project Ethos Presented by Scion on Thursday, August 15th at 1Oak inside the Mirage Hotel & Casino. There is no doubt that this is only the beginning for “ratchet pop,” so join the #STUNT movement.
