Introducing Carlton!

Alternative pop trio Carlton first started playing together in 2009 in their hometown of Washington DC. The men behind the band including Richard Wynne, Brian Jones, and Brendan McCuster find inspiration from many styles of music. “From groovy Motown inspired drum beats, to intricate African 6/8”, they don’t like to limit themselves and strive for a unique sound. This unique group incorporates improvisation and a level of experimentation to create a different experience every time you listen. Together they have created five EP’s and worked with well-known music industry contributors, such as engineer and producer, Ross Hogarth, and Dave Way. They recently released their first official album, “Stretching”, in October of 2013 and will be performing live in our art gallery presented by Midori on March 18th. Vincent

Art for the Masses

Florida born artist Vincent Serritella is on a mission to make art accessible for everyone. After attending the Maryland Institute College of Art and the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, Serritella spread his wings in the art world but found something rather disturbing. Art had become “out of reach for the general public” said Serritella. It was no longer valued as a form of expression and beauty, rather a commodity for barter.

So, Serritella set out on Project 365 where original art could become accessible for everyone. Everyday, for an entire year, Serritella created and gave away an original drawing. During this time he created a book documenting the pieces and his journey. His kick starter campaign to fund the production for 1,000 books is underway now!
